The thought sparked in my brain, as I struggled to think of what to write – what if this were the last postcard I ever wrote, what would I say?
I wrote a few emails tonight; emails to old friends I’ve lost contact with, and with whom I’m seeking reconnection. I don’t know if the emails will even arrive. I send them out like electronic messages-in-a-bottle, hoping for dry land and friendly eyes. I’m not naive enough to think that I could or even should be in touch in a meaningful way with everyone from the past, despite the promise (and ultimate disappointment) of social media. Yet I want that connection to a shared past, no matter how distant or tenuous.
I suppose that what I’d write on my last postcard – a plea for rememberance, and reconnection. Don’t forget about me.
