Sometimes having to do something every day can be a chore; make the bed, water the plants, feed the cat, call home, re-park the car, go to work.. write a postcard. I need to do it, I want to do it, but it doesn’t mean I feel inspired everyday. Being creative means doing it no matter how you feel, inspired or no, not just when you’re struck with a brilliant idea.
Perhaps it’s going again into London, exposed again to its sights and sounds and of course its people, but new ideas have been filtering in at a rapid rate this week.
I’ve learned about “FlashFiction“, stories that, loosely defined, are 1,000 words or less. I write some fiction on these cards but, to put it honestly, I’m petrified, and those cards are never as popular. But, to write fiction was one of my goals of this project, and it’s time to push outside of my comfort zone and risk the judgement. Because I don’t plan the cards I expect my improvisations to be loose, unfinished, but perhaps in the digging I might unearth the occasional gem. Watch this space.
