again, 2013 not 2012

The package is being delivered. The package, also known as my mother or more typically, “Grandma”, is on her way to Paris with us on the Eurostar to celebrate her 70th birthday. She suspects that the rest of the family will be there also, but we have given her enough misdirection to make her doubt herself.
She and my father lived there back in the 60s; my eldest sister was born there. She’s lived in many cities during their iconic periods; Mexico City in the late 40s; the great American suburb in the 50s, Paris in the 60s, and the UK in the 70s and 80s. She is both endlessly adaptable and gloriously impermeable to most popular culture – French New Wave what? London punk scene where?
Love you, Mama.
