Today’s my Saint’s Day. There are lots of Johns in the Saints’ calendar but my parents chose the biggie – John The Baptist. It’s a holiday in some parts of Spain, mostly in Cataluña. Peoples’ Saint’s Days used to be more celebrated than their birthday ~ I love getting the Happy Saint’s Day message from my father. Legend says that on the eve of the day (which my father always refers to as “the shortest night of the year”, which has a nice poetic ring to it, but I always think of that night as the 20th) that if you go out and find a four-leafed clover, then you will have good fortune in love for the coming year. I musta found one without realising.
