The postcard reads:
While I maintain a mostly-secular life having avoided falling off the Catholic wagon, I remain fascinated by the California missions and the remnants of Spanish history they left in the USA. When I conceived of the idea of cycling from SF to LA [in 2006], I originally wanted to go via mission to mission, taking photos and recording impressions. Given the time available, I had to put those plans aside, but it remains a draw, to travel the Camino Real in California at a pace somewhat equivalent of an 18th and 19th century Californian. The world’s a big place.
I love it!
🙂 so glad, hope I didn't spoil the surprise. Let us know when it reaches you.
It is here! (And by the way, the only thing I love more than a surprise is looking forward to one!) 🙂
