I’m not planning a Halloween costume. Even if I were, I wouldn’t know when or where to wear it. It’s not the same in the UK as the USA. Sure, I can go buy pumpkin and squash and decorate the house. I can pull out the pine-scented and spice-scented candles, and decorate the crap out of our flat in warm autumn colours. It’s not as fun when other people aren’t doing the same. All I have to do is open the door, feel that cold wind, watch the colours change right outside, see the light filtering through the trees, dripping wet with rain. Nothing can beat autumn in the UK.
