I was walking a dark wood-panelled hallway in Hampton Court Palace, away from tourists and noisy schoolchildren. One panel out of the hundreds was more worn away, many hands having touched that space. Curious, I did the same, and felt something draw my ear to the wall. From the other side, slightly muffled but distinct, a child’s voice whispered to me. It took me several listens but eventually I was able to make out what he said. I took his words and share them with you here.
