The Olympic Park – a sporting EPCOT-centre sprawl, there’s water-polo! There’s aquatics! There’s BMX! Velodrome! A teeming, heaving mass of people, many with team GB hats, flags, painted faces. Also, India, USA, Brazil, South Africa and, of course, SPAIN. Built on a river, they incorporated large grassy hillsides on which you could sit and watch live sports coverage on a massive screen – surely the best idea they had so visitors could rest their weary feet.
