I started to sketch at Waterloo and by the time I reached Clapham Junction, ten minutes later, this was as far as I had gotten and all the people I was drawing left the train. The man sitting next to me was looking over at what I was doing and showed interest. As he left the train he smiled at me and I smiled back. He made a point to hang around as the women left the train, almost missing his chance to get off himself, and said to me – ‘she’s beautiful, isn’t she?’. I didn’t know who he was referring to.
I wasn’t able to find a way to finish the sketch, so here it is.
