Saw “Blackmail” projected outdoors at The British Museum with a live orchestra and a new score. The front of the card depicts the climax of the film, a chase through the British Museum. That’s part of what made it so special, seeing London, and the very place where we were sitting, reflected back to us from over 80 years in the past. The film was restored, looked gorgeous. It was silent, and so much played out in close ups of hands; reading, gesturing, silencing, pleading, retreating, begging, exploring, and, this being Hitchcock, dying.
