Participated in Accomplice London today, a group of ten of us, eight friends and two extras. Like the zombie apocalypse that we experienced in October, this involved a bunch of puzzle solving and interacting with characters along the way. No one wants to say it, but it is a mildly curated LARP. No, they need to call it theatre to give it artistic credentials. A treasure hunt, a scavenger hunt, some LARP-ing. (Aside, a group of 6 people painted green – “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!” just walked through the train ~ we weren’t the only ones putting on a mask today), some childhood adventuring ~ this was not theatre. The best bit, without giving it away, was near the end, when we got to witness another group try to solve a puzzle without them knowing. What, if anything, it lacked was a sense of urgency, that something dire might happen if we let the pace drop.
