This Tintin story, along with Red Rackham’s Treasure, is my favourite because we had in Spain a large number of Tintin comics, but only these two in English. I read a lot of comics in Spanish but Tintin in Spanish felt more tortuous than it needed to be, so I gravitated towards the English editions. My uncle had bought them in the UK from the 60s and I read them obsessively. The pages were worn and the spines falling apart and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
A friend, not knowing the above, sent me this card along with a host of others from New Zealand. To New Zealand and a different friend this card returns. Fly!

This may be my 200th postcard, but virgin media thinks I am Ms Jaun Louise Sanches. Good job; many people have made a mistake on one of my names, but no one has failed to get my first and last name wrong AND my gender all at the same time. I dedicate this card to you, Voijin Medoid.
The first 100 cards sometimes seemed to crawl by, the next 100 went by in a flash!
Fun stuff in cards 101-200:
– A five-part story told over a week of postcards (I, II, III, IV and V)
– I’m drawing again
– Had a small meltdown and got the internet equivalent of a hug. Thank you!
– Started putting photographs on the postcards
– A small fable about The Girl And The Moon
– FEARS
– Took the stairs to the 18th floor
– Merry Christmas from India
Here are some goals I had set after 100 postcards:
To send a card to any or all of the following countries: China, Russia, Kenya, Nigeria, Japan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Mongolia, Suriname
– really, I don’t know anyone in any of these countries?
To send five cards out to complete strangers
– It would be so great to get more recipients into the mix, and get reactions from people who don’t know have any context for what I’m rambling about.
To receive as a gift someone’s old unused postcard collection to add to my own
– I’ve received new blank cards from various people (including the one in today’s post), so this goal is at least 50% met, but I’ve had promises from a couple people to send me their old unused postcard collections, but nothing has yet come of it.To receive postcards in return
– thank you to A, I, J, J, K for sending me cards! Keep ’em coming.
What’s coming up in the next 100 postcards:
- More drawings
- More (multi-part) stories
- Custom printed designs
- More meltdowns
Leave a comment if you want a postcard or know someone who might (especially if they live in any of the above countries I want to send one to).
Lastly, there are cards going back to November that I don’t know if they arrived to their destinations. Poor cards, I hope they’re not lost in the world. If you have a card from me in the past couple of months and aren’t sure if you’ve let me know, please take a second to do so. Thank you!
The postcard arrived today! Hooray!
Wonderful news. It got there super fast!
