A sleepless night. I think I’ve made a lot of tough choices in my life. Not Jack Bauer-tough; the consequence were profound for me but didn’t affect too many outside of my circle. You’d think age would make those choices a little easier to make. I guess when you’re younger there’s less to lose in a way – a bad choice may take you off the path for a year or two, but you can correct it. These days I’m not so sure.
Received! I think I connected a lot with this particular post card. There seem to be an overwhelming number of choices I'm battling with, as I turn 25.
Hey Mariyam,
I'm glad it resonated – I don't know whether choices become easier or not as you get older. I trust my gut more now that I'm older. Things that seem right on paper but feel wrong pretty much don't have a chance. On the other hand, I feel like a ship that takes a little longer to change direction than when I was a kid.
I also have a set of people, informal, kind of 'board of advisors', people I call upon to help me sort out whether to do something or not, they often help me separate stuff that's clogging up my brain from the real issues.
Ultimately, I guess, try to come up now with a set of guiding principles to help you look at your choices.
Plus, there's always helpful cousins 🙂 x
