“Maybe it’s because you just ate breakfast”, Maria said. I was doubtful. The next day I got on the scales first thing. “Nope.” I said, “I’m just a fatass.” OK I know I’m not fat, but I am carrying around 20 extra pounds than I should. I gained 10 in the last few months, which I put down to work stress. I have put myself again on a no-refined sugar diet. Meaning, no sugar in my coffee or tea, no snacks of Wispas, Double Decker, Twix, Boost, etc. No brownies, no white chocolate blondies (yum), no portuguese tarts. No toast snacks in the middle of the day. More greens, more veg. I know i can do it. The other less manageable part is – sleep. Rest, I only realised how much it affects me in the past couple of years. When I’m stressed or my always uncertain sleep is interruped, I’m a mess. I can’t control what I eat in those moments, it’s awful. So far this week, however, two good nights’ sleep, and the willpower has held strong.
