Although I like to track the arrival of the postcards and compile stats on them, I try not to be attached to whether they arrive or not, because there’s nothing I can do about it once it goes into those red wide-mouthed pillarboxes. I like to imagine the ones that don’t arrive as having a whole life of their own, out there in the world. I’d love it if someone who finds a lost card follows the links on the back and finds their way here, but I doubt that it will ever happen.
This one, however, still stings. It never made it to its intended recipient, and the fact that I’d kept the card for nigh on 15 years, sent it specifically to this friend who also enjoyed Buffy as I did, only to have it never show up… well, it made me sad.
Bonus fact: SMG is wearing the dress from the opening of I Know What You Did Last Summer, so it’s not a Buffy-related publicity photo.

The office loo has a motion-activated light, sometimes I am there listening to my iPod and lost in thought, finding a couple minutes of quiet, undisturbed. Suddenly, click, and the whole place is dark, and I hold my hands high above my head and wave them around until the light kicks back on. Sometimes I wonder if I can just keep sitting there, in the dark, like in a sensory deprivation chamber, how long before someone wanders in and triggers the light on again? And what would they think, considering themselves to be alone, if I then made noise in the neighbouring stall – a ghost! A poor lost soul in CG, doomed to haunt the dark bathrooms of visual effects facilities forever…
