We parked at Washington and La Cienega. We walked into galleries. Looked at paintings of horses. I took photos. She was wearing a grey top, a leather jacket and a smile. We oohed and aahed over the spaces. I don’t remember what we talked about. We got in the car and drove to LACMA. We waited in line. People were fashionably dressed, getting their photo taken. I felt unfashionably conspicuous. We browsed the bookstore. We took photos amongst the lampposts in front. I used the flash, reluctantly.
We met again the next day.
“Was yesterday.. a date?” she asked.
“No,” I said.
Her face fell.
“Oh.”
We eventually decided that, yes, it was a date, and have celebrated the day ever since.
It's kinda appropriate that you have the queen of hearts on this card.
