#176 – On this day in 1997

This is another in the hopefully continuing series of sketches that I hope to keep making.

#176 - back
sent from: London, UK. destination: Santiago, Chile, South America

On this day, 15 years ago; my brother had a birthday, Bill Clinton was President of the USA, and impeachment was not on the cards. Noted failed businessman and reformed alcoholic George W. Bush was Governor of the State of Texas. Princess Diana was still alive, as was Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Tony Blair was the great hope of Labour, and Britain as a whole. Osama Bin Laden was not a household name. OJ Simpson was about to be tried in civil court for his wife’s murder, though he had been found innocent of the crime. INXS singer Michael Hutchence had not yet gone in excess. The Star Wars Special Editions were about to come out, and everyone’s childhoods were still intact. The following bad films were not yet released but were to be favourites of mine: Double Team, Anaconda, Romy & Michelle’s High School Reunion, The Lost World, Air Force One. These other terrible movies were not my favourites: Speed 2, Batman and Robin.  Also, on this day, 15 years ago, I boarded a plane for Los Angeles.
