Trying something new for these cards, a story spread over several days. Be sure to check back tomorrow to see the continuation of the story.
A boy was cycling home from church. It was cold – only three days ’till Christmas, so he had a coat with a hood that had a furry lining. He didn’t have a helmet on – only hardcore bmx bikers wore helmets in those days. He had played during mass – not as in playtime but playing the organ; you wouldn’t think it because he was young – only thirteen. He wasn’t very good but he enjoyed playing the Christmas carols and all the old people smiled at him when mass was over. Over in the parish hall people ate mince pies and drank sherry. He had drunk some too and ate mince pies even though he didn’t really like them, but that day, he ate them. He always wanted to ask his parents why they were called mince pies when there was no minced meat in them, but his parents wouldn’t know either, neither of them had grown up with the pies as a part of Christmas.
So, he was cycling home from Mass. He wanted to pick up speed, so he stood off the seat and started pumping the pedals with his full weight behind them.
It was at that moment, his foot slipped off the pedal.
